VEGFB Knockout Mice
This Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor B (VEGFB) knockout mouse model was created by targeted disruption of VEGFB using programed nuclease. VEGFB is a member of the VEGF/Platelet-Derived Growth Factor (PDGF) family which regulates the formation of blood vessels and is involved in endothelial cell physiology. VEGFB is alternately spliced into two distinct isoforms, VEGF-B167 and VEGF-B186. VEGFB is a ligand for Vascular Endothelial Growth Factor Receptor 1 (VEGFR-1) and Neuropilin-1 (NRP-1). Mutations are confirmed by PCR genotyping and Sanger sequencing. Heterozygous mice are in breeding now and homozygous mice will be available soon. This VEGFB KO mouse model will be useful for diabetes and metabolic homeostasis research.
