Prekallikrein Knockout Mouse Model

Molecular Innovations is pleased to introduce a variety of knockout mouse models. These mice are useful for many research and commercial applications including monoclonal antibody development, cardiovascular studies, and pharmaceutical development and testing. We can also collect plasma and organs from these unique mice. Knockout mice are created by targeted disruption of the gene of interest followed by extensive breeding to achieve homozygous mutants. Mutations are confirmed by PCR genotyping and functional assays. We have additional strains in development and can accommodate new custom projects. C57BL6 Knockout Mouse

MS-PK has a 5bp deletion in exon 1 of the prekallikrein gene disrupting the transcribed protein sequence. Prekallikrein is the single chain gamma globulin glycoprotein zymogen precursor of the plasma serine protease kallikrein. This mouse has a greatly extended clotting time because of this deficiency in the early phase of the intrinsic pathway of the clotting cascade. Kinin formation and fibrinolysis may be impacted in addition to the contact activation system.
